Here's a trick for sparkling windows-
Mix a gallon of warm water with half a cup of vinegar and a teaspoon of ordinary dish soap. Use a sponge or clean cloth to wash. Finish with a clean squeegee. Your windows will be crystal clear and have a streak-free shine.
If you want to add some bling to your dining area without being too ostentatious, try adding a chandelier like this one. It can be found in Home Depot and won't break the bank. This sparkling beauty is hanging in my dining room.
Here's a tip -
If you have hard water like I do and your glasses and dishes in the dishwasher look a little cloudy, try adding a quarter cup of white vinegar on the top shelf. It helps to keep the calcium from sticking to your dishes, glasses and also keeps the inside of your dishwasher clean.
Adding some Fall colors to your decor is an easy thing to do - Try adding an orange or red-hued pillow in your living room or a golden accent bowl to your dining room table. A fall tablecloth is always a nice touch and helps to keep your table clean. Add a leaf inspired welcome mat outside your door.
Dirty grout...
Have you ever had this and didn't know how to fix it? Well, I just tried it today and it works really well. Especially in the bathroom. If you have this problem, put some hydrogen peroxide on the grout and then add some baking soda. Work it in with an old toothbrush or any narrow cleaning brush. Wipe away the excess with a warm cloth. Be sure to get all of the grit from the baking soda. You will notice a clean line and also no smell. It also takes no time at all. Try it!
I discovered this tip quite by accident...
If you have a glass baking pan that has seen better days and like mine did, has baked on grease stains, here's an easy way to get it off. After putting it in the dishwasher through a complete cycle, take it out and scrub it by hand in regular dish soap with the scour side of a sponge. It comes right off! My pan now looks new again.
Don't be afraid to mix old, new and handmade ornaments and decorations to your holiday home. Display your child's artworks proudly. Enjoy the holidays!
A little life advice on babysitting -
Let the kids do whatever they want (within reason) and clean up the mess later. You'll be less stressed and the kids will have fun. Also, have the kids help you straighten up, they'll enjoy it. Kids love to feel needed, take advantage of that.

A tip when working on any sort of job or project -
Clean up as you go. In other words, when you make a mess, take care of it right then. It's easier and you won't have to "chip away" at it later. That way, you'll finish both "jobs" at about the same time, giving you more time to relax afterwards.
A painting tip -
If you are like me and tape around your baseboards and windows while painting, I have a small tip for you when the job is done. Once the paint is dried and you can take the tape off, it is sometimes a good idea to have a utility knife on hand. The paint can in some spots get glopped on and while taking the tape off, takes some of the paint off the wall. To combat this, use your utility knife to cut along the edge of the woodwork or frame of the window so that this does not happen. And then, you have less touch-ups to do. It's a small step, but saves a lot of work.
A safety tip about sanding -
It is always a good idea to use safety goggles and a dust mask when sanding. Keep young children well away from the dusty area as they are often breathing with their mouth open. You don't want them inhaling anything that may be toxic or the dust itself. This also goes for pets, whether it be dog, cat, bird, etc. They are wont to cleaning themselves and are likely to swallow whatever is sticking to them. Dust particles are not good for them either. Keep yourself and everyone around you safe.
When renovating or even moving from one home to another, if there is something you do not need or want, donate it. Especially if it is still in good shape. Some things like furniture and fixtures can be recycled. Charities are always looking for second-hand home furnishings. If that's not your thing, you can always ask friends or family if it is something they may want. It may not fit with your style anymore, but may work for someone else. You'd also be saving someone else some money.
