Way Back When...The Final Chapter
Hello Everyone,
Well, we've come to just about the end of this story. As of last time, we finished the bathroom. The bedrooms were the only rooms left. Mostly, they just needed floor sanding and painting. The wood trim was also sanded and two coats of polyurethane. We added new fixtures in them too, which really brightened up the spaces. They only had flush mounts in them beforehand and probably the cheapest they could find. The only real work we did in the master bedroom, which was not much bigger than the second bedroom, was to double the size of the closet. How we did that was like this. There was a closet in the second bedroom on the same wall as the closet in the master bedroom. We closed that off and opened the wall on the other side. That doubled the size of our closet. We used a folding door to save on space when opening. Fortunately, the second bedroom had a second closet. We painted the master a light beige which worked out well since the room was pretty dark despite having two windows. Our neighbors house was right next to ours and blocked out some of the natural light. The second bedroom was painted a dark blue and worked out well since it was on the sunny side of the house. We also had to use texture paint on the ceiling because it had that "wavy" look just like in the living room. After that we were done.
We were finally able to move in. We moved all of our furniture in and it set up very nicely. We had all of the construction done and did not have to do any renovating while living there. It was great!
Even though we had the house ready there was something that we were not ready for. My husband's cancer had returned. As it happens, it had grown. The doctors decided that they would operate again to see if they could remove it before it had gotten any bigger and invaded any other organs. We met with them before surgery to prepare for what might come next. They told us that after surgery, he would most likely go through chemotherapy to destroy what might be left. If any of you know anything about chemo, you know that it can be just as bad as the disease. So, we held onto hope and he went into surgery. It lasted about six hours. I could not see him until later that evening. By then, he was so groggy and exhausted, I had to leave just so he could rest and recuperate. He was in the hospital for about a week. I went to see him everyday but still had to work. It was a very tough week. But, he went through it well and the doctors were impressed. They said it would take awhile before they could see by CAT-scan just how well they did. So, we waited...
I will continue this next time.
Till then...Lisa
